Paster Properties is a highly respected, long-standing, third-generation business that develops and owns retail, mixed-use, and multifamily properties in the Twin Cities. Our dynamic and nimble team provides asset management, property management, leasing, accounting, and development services. Our mission is to strengthen communities by developing places that add value and energy to neighborhoods. We currently operate and/or hold investments in approximately 30 properties with asset values exceeding $325M.

Paster Properties is recruiting for a Construction & Facilities Manager. This position will work closely with the leasing, property management and development teams to ensure capital projects and operations run smoothly, and that our properties represent our brand.


Position Overview

 We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction & Facilities Manager to oversee construction activities across our portfolio of retail commercial properties. This role is primarily responsible for leading construction and renovation projects from planning through completion, and ensuring that all facilities are safe, compliant, and aligned with our company’s standards. The candidate will team with property management to provide seamless integration on capital improvement efforts. The ideal candidate is a strong project manager with a hands-on approach who can also think creatively to solve a variety of problems in a cost-effective manner.


Key Responsibilities:

Construction & Renovations

 • Plan, budget, and oversee construction, renovation, capital projects, and tenant improvement projects across multiple retail locations.
• Coordinate with property management team during tenant improvements projects to minimize operational disruption to ensure tenant satisfaction and maximize overall efficiency.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Review construction drawings, schedules, and cost estimates; monitor progress and resolve issues proactively.
• Oversee bidding and contractor selection processes, ensuring competitive pricing and compliance with company standards.
• Ensure project closeouts are completed with accurate documentation and warranty tracking.


Facilities Management

• Partner with Property Management in technical maintenance, trouble shooting matters, repairs, safety, and compliance.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to extend the life of building systems and equipment.
• Build strong vendor partnerships and drive accountability to ensure cost-effective, high-quality outcomes
• Conduct periodic inspections of properties to assess conditions, identify risks, and recommend improvements.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including safety, accessibility, and environmental requirements.


Vendor & Stakeholder Management
 

• Act as the primary liaison for contractors, ensuring accountability and performance
• Collaborate with property management, leasing, and asset management teams to support tenant satisfaction and property value.
• Partner closely with tenants on technical and construction-related needs to maintain satisfaction and retention.


Financial & Strategic Oversight

• Develop and manage annual facility capital and construction budgets.
• Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
• Provide long-term strategic input on property improvements, asset preservation, and capital planning.


Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Real Estate, or related field (preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in facilities or project management, ideally within retail and multi-tenant projects.
• Working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roofing, etc.) and construction methods.
• Proven ability to manage projects on time and on budget.
• Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
